Day 4 of the 30 Day challenge, and we have another favourite character question! Today is infinitely easier than yesterday, as I have a definite favourite female with no competition. However, I must add, that I started the Love Live! series fairly recently, so maybe this question came in good time, or else there could be some serious competition!
DAY 4 – FAVOURITE FEMALE ANIME CHARACTER EVER
HEARTEYESINTENSIFIES.
My favourite female character, by absolute miles (and also, the character I want to cosplay most) is Nia Teppelin from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! Yoko may be the poster girl for Team DaiGurren, but Nia is the star and the hope that keeps them all going. WARNING: Minor spoilers for Gurren Lagann below.
Where do I start? Her design is the best place to start, perhaps. Gurren Lagann is famed for its flashy and over-the-top designs, and Nia is no exception in being a standout. Everything about her design screams ‘princess’.
Not only does it represent her character as a whole, but it also puts her in contrast to the edgy, punky style that represents the rest of Team DaiGurren. It also directly contrasts her later path, but to save those who have not yet seen Gurren Lagann (Guys! Really?), I won’t spoil too much yet.
But Nia’s character, gosh. I love her. For a start, without Nia, we wouldn’t get a whole lot of story progression – she is literally the hope, the embodiment of fighting the powah, that powers Simon through his despair. She could very easily become waifubait in this role (and some people really try it), but she’s not. Nia is a badass in her own right. Not what you’d expect from someone who’s pupils take the shape of flowers. Whilst Simon is the hero of Gurren Lagann, he really is powerless without a strong female powering him up – hello, Nia.
Not to mention, aside from being a badass when she needs to be, she is also the cutest thing on the planet (and the entire Spiral galaxy). Who doesn’t want to give her a head a pat when she tries, and fails spectacularly at cooking – her ‘role’ on the team?
R.I.P Rossiu.
And I can’t talk about her being the hope and help to Simon without just briefly fangirling about how darned cute their relationship is. They were each other’s first love, dang it. And they look so cute fighting Gunmen together.
My heartttt.
Whilst I’m saddened at where the story eventually left Nia, I can’t fault any other aspect of her. No matter how many shows I seem to watch, Nia remains a solid favourite, something that I do not expect to change for a long, long time.
So, there we have a gushy post about my favourite female character! I’m often told it’s an unexpected choice, but I can’t imagine choosing anyone else.
Who is your favourite female character? Are they cuter than Nia? Let me judge, and let me know in the comments!
Until next time!
Great post!

Yeah, if I had a whole other post to talk about favourite couples, Nia and Simon would be a top choice too. Thanks. 🙂

I haven’t seen Gurren Lagann. *hiding behind the sofa* but she looks cute and your description of her is very appealing. Maybe I should watch it?
